Figure DrawingGroup

The figure drawing group will resume on Monday nights from 6-9pm

starting February 15, 2010 for 4 weeks. If response is good and we get prepaid

commitments then we will book another 4 weeks. The rate is $35. for 4 sessions pre-paid

or $12. for drop-ins. Free coffee and tea and bottled water (Bring your own coffee cup!)

Figure Drawing Monday Nights

Figure Drawing on Monday Nights is back and will run from 6-9pm each Monday.

Silverpoint Drawing Workshop - June 28.

On Sunday June 28 the Remsen Street Studios will host a Silverpoint workshop with CT artist Banjie Getsinger Nicholas. A silverpoint drawing is one in which the drawn line is created with a thin silver wire held in a stylus. A specially prepared surface is necessary to provide sufficient abrasion to remove silver from the tip. This surface can be achieved through a variety of methods on a variety of substrates. Values are created with patient cross hatching and layering of strokes rather than application of pressure which may tear the paper. Over time the drawing oxidizes to a warm glow characteristic only of this medium. Other metals used traditionally are copper and gold, each leaving a mark with slightly different color and oxidizing characteristics.

The workshop will run from 10am - 4pm with a lunch break. The cost is $75. with all materials included. A $40. deposit must be received by June 15 with the remaining balance due on the class day. Each Monday Night The Remsen Street Studios hosts a live model figure drawing group with group moderator and artist Nina Stanley

from 6-9pm. Drop ins are welcome but space is limited so please call first. Cost is $15. for drop in or $40. for 4 sessions. or $55. for 6 sessions.

Our schedule from now until September will be as follows:
Drawing group will meet on: May 4 & 11 - June 1, 8, 22 - July 6.

The studio will be closed on the following dates:

May 18 & May 25 (memorial day), June 15 & June 29.

The group will not be meeting in July (except July 6) or August and will resume the Monday following Sept. 7 (labor day).
